Discussion Playground

Origins

Three meta-sessions where the methodology examined itself

Before the Discussion Playground existed, the Writing Lab turned its tools on its own methods. Two facilitators — Kaner and de Bono — diagnosed constraints, surfaced rules, and designed twelve session formats. This arc produced the foundation that everything here builds on.

The Lab Examines Itself

Meta-session 1 · Kaner & de Bono

Two facilitators, no panelists. A methodology on the operating table — five constraints diagnosed, seven interventions proposed, and a surprise knock on the door that changed everything.

There Are Rules

Meta-session 2 · Kaner & de Bono

Seventeen rules across four categories: visible, implicit, deep, and ghost. The audit that made the invisible architecture of the Writing Lab visible — and chooseable.

What Kinds of Labs?

Meta-session 3 · Kaner, de Bono, Singer & Eno

The methodology stops being one thing and starts being a family. Twelve session formats, three product tiers, and a permeable room that recruited its own participants.
